Sabelo Zuma Brings Amapiano & Kwaito Energy to Korea

South African music is making its way to Korea once again. On October 10, vocalist and performer Sabelo Zuma, better known as Zuma, will take the stage in Pyeongtaek for a special live performance.

Published on October 26, 2026

Known for his work across amapiano and kwaito, Zuma has built his career around the sounds that have shaped South Africa’s contemporary music scene. His music brings together catchy melodies, rhythmic grooves and the distinctive energy of South African nightlife.

From Amaroto to a solo career

Many listeners first discovered Zuma through Amaroto, the duo he formed with fellow artist Reece Madlisa. The pair quickly became known on the South African music scene, with their sound sitting at the intersection of kwaito and the rapidly growing amapiano movement.

Their debut project, Ama Roto, released in 2020, went on to win Best Kwaito Album at the South African Music Awards, helping establish the duo as one of the names to watch in the new generation of South African music.

Zuma has also worked with artists from across the amapiano scene, including Mr JazziQ, Busta 929, Killer Kau and Josiah De Disciple. These collaborations have helped shape his sound while connecting him to the wider South African music movement.

Since Amaroto, Zuma has continued his journey as a solo artist, exploring his own sound and working on new music. His solo releases include the EP Dropping Soon, which features several collaborations with artists from the South African music scene.

Zuma comes to Pyeongtaek

Now, fans in Korea will have the chance to experience Zuma’s music live.

His upcoming performance is also an opportunity to experience a side of South African culture through music — from the rhythms of amapiano to the influence of kwaito, two genres that have become increasingly popular internationally.

For those already familiar with Zuma, the night will be a chance to see the South African vocalist perform in Korea for the first time. And for anyone who has been curious about discovering more of the music coming out of South Africa, it could be a good introduction.

With amapiano continuing to find audiences around the world, Zuma’s appearance in Pyeongtaek is another reminder of how far South African sounds are travelling — including all the way to Korea.
