1. What is K-Afro?

K-Afro is your guide to Black culture in South Korea. We find the best restaurants, bars, hair salons, shops, dance classes and events so you do not have to search alone. Whether you are living in Korea, just passing through, or simply curious, K-Afro is the one place where Black culture in South Korea comes alive.

2. Who is behind K-Afro?

K-Afro is run by two siblings brought together by their love for Korean culture. Angie (앤지), based in South Korea, is the one who had the vision and handles the business side. Kane (케), her brother, travels frequently to Seoul and takes care of marketing and communication. Together, they built K-Afro to give Black culture in Korea the platform it deserves.

3. Does K-Afro cover both African and African-American culture?

Yes, and that is actually the whole point. When we say Black culture, we mean all of it. African music, food, fashion, and traditions. African-American sounds, style, and energy. The diaspora in all its forms. In South Korea, these worlds often mix and feed each other anyway, so we cover anything that carries that Black culture DNA, wherever it comes from.

4. Is K-Afro only for Black people?

Not at all. K-Afro is for anyone curious about Black culture in South Korea. Whether you are part of the community or simply someone who loves the music, the food, and the energy, you are welcome here.

5. Is K-Afro free to use?

Completely. K-Afro is a free guide built for the community. No subscription, no paywall, just good finds.

6. How do we choose the places you feature?

We only feature places that genuinely connect to Black culture in South Korea. We look for quality, authenticity, and vibe. If it feels right and brings something real to the community, it makes the cut.

7. Are our reviews paid or sponsored?

No. Every place we feature is chosen because we genuinely think it deserves a spotlight. If a partnership ever exists, we will always be transparent about it. Our credibility comes from our independence and we intend to keep it that way.

8. How often is the content updated?

We update K-Afro regularly. Events are added as soon as we hear about them and new spots go live as we discover and verify them. Following us on Instagram is the best way to stay up to date in real time.

9. Do we cover places and events outside of Seoul?

For now, Seoul is where we focus most of our energy. But if something is happening elsewhere in South Korea and it is part of Black culture, we are not going to ignore it. Good things are worth sharing no matter the city.

10. I am new in Seoul, where do I start?

Welcome to Seoul! Start by browsing our Lifestyle section for the practical stuff like hair salons and shops. Then check our Events calendar to see what is happening around you. And follow us on Instagram for real-time updates and community tips. Seoul has more to offer than you think and we are here to help you find your footing.

11. Where can I find afro hair salons in Seoul?

Check our Lifestyle section. We have put together a guide to the best afro hair salons in Seoul so you can find a place that knows how to work with your hair without the stress.

12. Is it easy to find Black hair products in South Korea?

It is getting easier. Some shops in Itaewon and online platforms now carry a decent range of products. We cover this in our Lifestyle section with updated recommendations so you always know where to look.

13. Can I suggest a spot, an event, or a dance class?

Absolutely. If you know a place, an event, or a dance class that is part of Black culture in South Korea and we have not covered it yet, slide into our DMs on Instagram. We are always looking for new finds and if it fits the vibe, we will make sure to feature it.

14. Can I contribute content or write for K-Afro?

If you have something to say about Black culture in South Korea and want to contribute, we are open to it. Send us a message on Instagram and tell us your idea. We are always looking for new voices and perspectives.
