From Kenyan music and coffee to African cinema, Africa Week 2026 invites visitors to discover the continent’s cultural diversity in Chuncheon from October 14 to 18.

African music, film, coffee and cultural experiences are taking center stage in Chuncheon this week. Organized by The Korea-Africa Foundation, Africa Week 2026 offers visitors an opportunity to explore different aspects of African cultures through a five-day program running from October 14 to 18.
The event is taking place alongside the 2026 Chuncheon Makguksu & Dakgalbi Festival, bringing African cultural experiences to a wider audience in Gangwon Province.
Music, Coffee and Cultural Discoveries
One of the highlights of Africa Week 2026 is a live performance by Kayamba Africa, a renowned Kenyan a cappella group. Known for combining traditional rhythms, vocal harmonies and dance, the group will bring the sounds and energy of Kenya to the stage.
Visitors can also explore Kenyan culture through experience booths hosted by the Embassy of Kenya. Activities include coffee tasting, accessories and other cultural discoveries, offering a closer look at some of the country’s traditions and creative expressions.
The program also features a special lecture organized by the Embassy of Kenya, providing insights into Africa and its diverse cultures. It is an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the continent beyond the music, food and familiar cultural references.
African Cinema Takes the Screen
Film is another part of this year’s program, with three African films showcasing different stories and perspectives from across the continent.
Through cinema, audiences can discover different experiences, narratives and viewpoints, highlighting the diversity of African societies and the people who shape them.
Together, the performances, cultural booths, lecture and film screenings offer several ways to engage with African cultures in Korea.
For five days, Africa Week 2026 brings music, stories and cultural experiences from across Africa to Chuncheon, creating another opportunity to discover the continent’s diversity in South Korea.
